What is a Suzuki Vitara All Grip?
The Suzuki Allgrip Auto is Suzuki's own 4 wheel drive technology, that helps give you added control when driving on slippery surfaces.
This is accomplished by the 4x4 system automatically distributing torque to the rear wheels when it detects the wheels at the front are not getting as much grip to the road as they should. This then helps to level out the car, giving you more grip and control automatically.
What driving modes are available with a Vitara?
The Suzuki Vitara comes with 4 driving modes, these being: Auto mode, Lock mode, Snow mode, and Sport mode.
So what is the difference between these driving modes?
Auto mode
Auto mode maximises fuel efficiency, by prioritising front wheel drive, and only switching to 4WD if a wheelspin occurs.
Lock mode
Lock mode keeps 4x4 mode on regardless. This is ideal for snowy and muddy conditions as well as off-roading.
Snow mode
Snow mode gives you more traction and control during: icy, snowy, raining, muddy and other poor environmental conditions.
Sport mode
Sport mode allows the Vitara to become more responsive by turning on 4WD mode based on when and how hard you press the accelerator pedal.
How much can a Vitara tow?
The Suzuki Vitara can tow items around 2,000kg. This is enough power to tow most caravans, trailers, and horse boxes. However, we would always advise to check the manuals of the items you are trying to tow prior to hook up.
What is the boot space on a Vitara like?
The Suzuki Vitara has a very impressive boot space with up to 710 litres with the rear seats folded down, and 375 litres with the rear seats up.
Another benefit of the boot space, especially if you have ever removed the parcel shelf, and wondered, now where does this go?
The Vitara, has been designed to have a dedicated storage space for the parcel self under the boot floor itself - when you do not need it attached. Then when you do you can simply lift up the boot floor, take out the parcel shelf and reattach it.
What is the ground clearance on a Suzuki Vitara?
This Vitara SUV has a ground clearance of 185mm.
Where is Suzuki Vitara made?
For the European market the Vitara is made in Suzuki's Esztergom plant in Hungary, and for the North America region these are manufactured at the CAMI (Canadian Automotive Manufacturing Inc) Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario.
Is Suzuki Vitara discontinued?
Suzuki has no current plans of discontinuing this family SUV.
What advanced safety technology does a Vitara come with as standard?
The Vitara comes with a large number of advanced safety features, and a lot of these come as standard which is rather impressive.
Some of these advanced features include:
Dual sensor brake support
Dual sensor brake support safety feature has 2 cameras behind the rear view mirror that monitor the road ahead, and applied automatic braking when an accident is about to occur such as a pedestrian stepping into the road, or the car in front suddenly unexpectedly braking to help you avoid an accident.
Automatic headlamps
Automatic headlamps automatically turn on when the car's sensors detect the ambient light outside is dropping to give you more visibility without needing to remember to turn them on.
Adaptive cruise control
Adaptive cruise control increases and decreases your speed automatically based on the distance of the car in front of you.
Lane Departure warning system
The Lane Departure warning system will alert you when you are unexpectedly departing your line, in case you have become distracted.
Lane departure prevention system & Car Sway warning system
The lane departure prevention & car sway warning systems are designed to detect when you are unexpectedly deviating lanes and automatically correct the car's steering to keep you in your line to prevent an accident from potentially occurring.
Traffic sign recognition
Have you ever driven down a road, and suddenly thought, What's the limit on this section of road, I missed the sign?
Then the traffic sign recognition feature is for you. The Suzuki Vitara can read the speed signs and displays what the current road speed limit is on your dashboard for you.
Rear cross traffic alert
The Rear cross traffic alert feature is designed to help you when you are reversing the Vitara. It has been especially designed for when you are reversing through an area you may not be able to see oncoming traffic behind you fully - such as reversing off a driveway with tall hedges on either side. If this system then detects oncoming obstacles it will then alert you, so you can stop in time until the hazard (be it a car or a person) has passed.
Blind spot monitoring
The Blind spot monitoring feature will alert you to when a car is passing in your blind spot by showing a visual icon on your wing mirrors. This will then help you avoid navigating into a lane with a vehicle in your immediate blind spots.
Hill hold control
The Hill hold control safety feature is designed to give you more control especially when you are going from a stationary position to a driving position and you are stopped on a hill. The car will automatically apply and release the brakes while you are trying to move off to prevent the car from rolling backwards while you are starting. This will give you more time and control to move off.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) feature will automatically apply different braking power to each wheel based on the road and many conditions that each individual tyre is seeing, when you apply the brakes. This then helps to avoid the car from skidding, or you losing control especially on icy or wet conditions.
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system will automatically detect when the vehicle is going into a skid and deploys measures to counteract it, helping to keep you in control.
Anti-locking Braking System (ABS)
Anti-locking Braking System (ABS) determines when the wheels are becoming locked under heavy braking. It then quickly pumps the breaks rather than keeping solid pressure applied automatically. This then helps to bring the vehicle to a stop, while helping to avoid skidding due to the wheels being locked in place.
